After 13 Years In The US, This Man Wants To Leave High-Paying Job Due To ‘Burnout’
With his wife being white and their children also having a similar appearance, the man worries about the potential challenges they might face in India.

For some, the demands of a high-paying job can lead to burnout, prompting a reassessment of priorities. A 39-year-old man, after 13 years of working in the US, is now considering leaving his job and relocating to India with his wife and three children.
In a Reddit post, he shared, “Hi all, I am 39-year- old with wife and 3 kids (11 years, 2 years, 1 month) and contemplating on semi retiring in India after living in the US for 13 years. I gave too much to work for a long time now I feel like I need to slow down. Also, want to give my full attention to kids for next few years."

Although his job provides a good salary, he also has a passive side hustle that generates enough income for a comfortable life in India.
“I have a very high paying job and it will be painful to let go that money but I am burning out fast," the user added.
At the same time, he is concerned about how his family will be received. With his wife being white and their children also having a similar appearance, he worries about the potential challenges they might face in India.
“I am little concerned as my wife is white and kids look white as well, hence worried about bullying in the society or schools," he mentioned.
He is currently looking for a place to rent in Bengaluru but is also open to considering areas like Hyderabad and Pune. He mentioned that his brother lives in the Varthur area of Bengaluru and it would be ideal if he could find a 4BHK or larger apartment nearby. He is willing to pay up to Rs 3.5 lakh in rent per month.
“I am looking for 4BHK or bigger and willing to pay rent 1.5L- 3.5L per month but lesser the better. Parents will be staying with me so 5BHK will be ideal but can manage with 4BHK as well," he wrote.

The post drew varied reactions from the social media users in the comments section where many shared concerns about how his wife and kids would adjust to life in India.
One user commented, “Haven’t experienced this myself but I see myself moving to India in the long run. Your plan sounded good until the last paragraph, since you mentioned your wife is white and kids are mixed, I believe they will find it extremely hard to fit in and adjust, I think it would just be uncomfortable, if we keep the bullying aside it’s the strangers staring and asking for pictures for me. Please reconsider."
Another shared, “Don’t make your white wife and kids move to India. I am euro (white woman) and have lived in India alone and with my Indian partner and it is very lonely and uncomfortable with the staring and picture taking. Integration is impossible."
“Instead of something permanent, think of something like a trial. Like spend 6 months in India, without making it like a permanent decision," someone suggested.
There were also many who raised concerns about the country’s infrastructure, pollution and other challenges.
